Rajmohan Unnithan 'scandal'
I watched the so called Unnithan scandal on Youtube today. What I saw was a public worker and a lady harassed by a group of DYFI and PDP workers. What I also witnessed was further evidence of the morbid sexuality of the average Keralite. The average keralite is a voyeur, a lecherous creature who will cloak his sexuality with philosophical and intellectual gymnastics. And of course, the law is an ASS. Why can't two adults be together in the night? Why is it 'immoral'? What business does the state or a bunch of hooligans have in peeping into others' lives? Beats me. The average Keralite has no qualms about standing in long ques to watch Shakeela movies but will talk endlessly about morality in public life. He will talk about communism and labour rights in Kerala but will work his ass off in distant gulf countries. He is a scandal monger, a prude and a fool. Thankfully, the whole India does not think like Kerala. God save India from Mallus. Where did we get this Victorian sense of morality? Is it from the Britishers? As Arundhati Roy writes, "Love Laws" define who should be loved, and how, and how much.
